Zoe, in a nutshell

Zoe has a way of wanting specific things her way. I have no idea where she inherited this trait, I think it may be recessive like her blue eyes.
The other day we were walking to the park and she wanted to be carried. As much as I try to reason with her, she still isn't quite at that point, and instead of debating the finer points of being carried versus walking, she simply laid down, in the middle of the sidewalk, right at someone's driveway. We stayed there for several minutes before she decided she would get up and walk. I took the high road and tried not to gloat to much, besides, like debating, I don't think she is ready to appreciate a good gloat.

Bed apparel

Picking clothing is so much fun for the small people. Seeing what they put together is entertaining for us. Here Q matches some dress socks with hi too small speed racer pajamas. While he got dressed Zoe kept on insisting on getting shoes, because when you wear socks, of course you need shoes. We appeased her with her own pair of socks - possibly a first time experience for her.

Swinging

Q is very resistant to pumping his legs on the swing. He tells us, "I will when grandma MJ is here.". Not sure what the secret power is....but he does it when she is here.

The One Year Birthday Photo Shoot Slideshow

Thanks so much to the wonderful art of Jenny Pinkston, (email Katharine or me if you need an awesome photographer in the Austin area), we have Zoe's birthday photo shoot ready to share.  I thought that since tomorrow is her 13 month birthday it would be good to get it out.

Enjoy.

oh, and if you are interested, here's Q's.  Yes, I used the same song on purpose.

Egg dying

Q enjoyed the process of egg dying. He did well with the careful placement of each egg in the cups and then later fished them out.

He doesn't even know the joy of the hunt since he was sick last year and too young to really get it the year before.

Happy Easter!

Food and attitude

I love it all. Food that is, food that I can shove in my mouth.

Lil reader

Zoe is getting to the point where she doesn't bite every book as soon as she has it in her hands. She appears to be bringing them to us to read, though she rarely stays for the conclusion. In a house full of readers it is no big surprise, but still, it's fun to see.

I want MORE!

Zoe has been showing the sign for "more" upon request, reluctantly, for some time. Today, she was asking for more unprompted, and without screaming. Yay!

These boots were made for walking.....

Zoe celebrated 11 months this past Thursday. Today Katharine decided to move her from size 4 to size 5 shoes. We were compelled to break out the new boots.

Zoe sliding

Zoe has so much fun at the park. It is definitely better in full screen (box on bottom right).

Dirt eating with mossil and fossil

Zoe enjoyed her visit with mossil and fossil who indulged her sense of adventure and let her crawl around and explore outside. After sampling several leaves and twigs, she found she favored plain dirt.

Zoe got her first Uncle John Christmas present. She is already requesting the invisible car when she turns 16.
